Black granite 18x12x36"

The first work in a series, taking all that Mark has learnt from his expolrations in to the abstract, pure form, towards the figurative.

The start point was to react to the limitations felt about the human figure, its constraints by proportion. Choosing a squared coloum of black granite, with its definite limits.

Life studies were simplified and traced on to only two sides of the coloum, and work began.
